Art and Inspiration: We visited an exhibition about the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn in the 1920s

We recently made an exciting trip to Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. We were amazed at the variety of artworks on display.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the presentation of contemporary art in a historical context. We learned about the different artistic movements and styles that influenced the development of art in the 20th century. This helped us to better understand and appreciate the works we saw.

The 1920s brought perhaps the greatest changes for women. "It really is the decade of the woman," enthuses Lulinska. "The woman smokes, the woman drives the car, the woman boxes." The "working girl" became the addressee of car and cigarette advertising and provoked the male world with androgynous chic. The short haircut invented in Paris, which became known as the “Bubikopf” in Germany, initiated a revolution. Lulinska: “There is a court document from Paris where a man is suing his wife because she cut off her hair. This is no longer the one he married. And the court agreed with him." - welt.de

We not only enjoyed the artworks but also discussed them with an art historian who gave us an entertaining guided tour. This created an inspiring atmosphere in which each participant had the opportunity to expand their understanding of art.

At the end of the visit to Bundeskunsthalle, we received a master class on creating modern paintings using a stencil. We had lively discussions about everything we saw. This inspired us to new ideas and made it possible to enjoy the beauty of art. This experience will certainly help us to develop as artists.

The exhibition “1920s! In the Kaleidoscope of Modernity" runs until July 30, 2023 in the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 7pm, Wednesday to 9pm. You should definitely see that too!
