About Us

The Creative Club of Ukrainian Women in Linz am Rhein is a place where women meet to create together on weekends. Our group consists of women of all ages and experience levels, we are united by a love of art and Ukrainian roots.

The idea of the club came from the need to create a space where Ukrainian women in Linz could meet and express their creativity. Most of us came to Germany after the Russian invasion of Ukraine or live here for a long time. But we preserve our culture and traditions by regularly gathering together for creativity.

Some focus on painting, others on drawing or sculpture. Most of us are self-taught and have learned drawing and painting, but some have also attended professional art schools.

We work in different styles and techniques, and it's amazing to see how each of our works evolves over time. Some prefer realistic images, while others prefer abstract or surreal art. It's amazing to see how each woman's creativity is reflected in her unique work.

In addition to the creative process, the painting course is also a place for exchange and communication. We share ideas, techniques, and our experiences with Ukrainian life in Germany; we talk about our families, our culture, and our homeland. This is a place where we can communicate and support each other.

The works created as part of the painting course were exhibited at the "Ukrainian Colors in the Colorful City on the Rhine" exhibition from January 20, 2024, to February 4, 2024. The exhibition at the Markt9 gallery in Linz gave us the opportunity to present our works and improve our skills. The exhibition has helped to raise awareness of Ukrainian culture. Information about the "Ukrainian Colors in the Colorful City on the Rhine" exhibition can be found here.

On behalf of all the participants in the painting course, we would like to sincerely thank the municipality of Linz am Rhein for providing the premises for our course and the Kreisvolkshochschule Neuwied e.V. for organizing the course and providing materials for the artists.

We are very grateful for the generous cooperation and support that has allowed us to successfully conduct our courses. Your kindness and understanding of the importance of art and creativity in our community are invaluable. Your flexibility and openness to our needs have greatly facilitated the organization of classes and allowed us to optimize the available space.

We could also rely on the support of our partners, friends, and volunteers at the "Ukrainian Colors in the Colorful City on the Rhine" exhibition.

Our thanks go to the city of Linz, Mayor Dr. Faust of Linz, the Linz am Rhein Art Association, as well as the organizers of the exhibition, Irina Splezer and Lisa Melnikova.
